All commissioned custom pistols are hand built in shop. we fabricate the stock and all the furniture in silver, or brass. We build up some locks from available parts and purchase other as needed. We will furnish the barrel of your choice from well established barrel manufacturers in the caliber, size, and shape desired. Custom barrels are made in house from barrel blanks.
We build our stocks from Hard (Sugar) Maple, American Black or English Walnut, or Black Cherry. Stock patterns will be determined by pistol style.
Locks, flint or percussion, are usually Siler, L&R, or similar again, depending on the pistol style, period, type, etc...
Barrels are available from Green Mountain, Rice, Getz, Oregon barrel, or other reliable barrel manufacturers. Octogan barrels in straight, swamped, or octagon to round styles are available in all the standard "across the flats" sizes of 13/16", 7/8", 15/16", 1", and1 1/8", by the desired length. Calibers from .32 to .62 rifled, and most smooth bore sizes can be acommodated. For some special applications, brass barrels are also available.
Personal contact between Gunsmith and Client is crucial to the outcome of this type of commission. We will work one-on-one with each customer until the completion of the project. The end result will be a piece you will be proud to possess, and enjoy to shoot.
